Nats Update – Final (2009)

Well, a new baseball season is upon us and I thought it might be good to finish up my recap of last year before I give my predictions for this year. The Nats obviously didn’t fare too well last year. They finished 59-103. They did show brief glimpses of hope after the All-Star break. They changed managers, made some trades, and re-worked their entire bullpen. Before Nyjer Morgan’s season-ending injury, they were playing pretty decent ball – three of their last four ‘mini-seasons’ ended up with 10-8, 9-9, and 9-9 records. They had an 8-game winning streak and ended the season on a 7-game winning streak. After signing Strasburg, Storen, and with some good free-agent pick-ups, the Nats are primed to have a better year in 2010. Here’s the final season review:
Mini-season 1: 4-14
Mini-season 2: 7-11
Mini-season 3: 4-14
Mini-season 4: 6-12
Mini-season 5: 5-13
Mini-season 6: 10-8
Mini-season 7: 9-9
Mini-season 8: 5-13
Mini-season 9: 9-9
Final Record: 59-103
